Brief Description
According to the Ministry of Health's National Study on Sexual Behaviour (2000), taking a representative sample of the population, "more than seven of every 100 women interviewed declared that she had been raped. In half of these cases, rape constituted her sexual initiation". This new information represents important input into planning for the prevention and treatment of sexual violence through the justice, health and education systems, as well as through civil society organizations
